In the atmospheric historical setting in the Jewish Quarter of Cordoba, near the Mosque and in front of the Castle of the Christian Monarchs, the Almudaina Restaurant fills the air with the smells and flavours of the highest quality cuisine.
The restaurant building is a charming minor palace which was built in the 16th century by Leopold of Austria, bishop of Cordoba and uncle of Emperor Charles V, and here the owner, Eldemiro Jiménez Rojo, offers a selection of newly-invented dishes side by side with the traditional favourites of Cordoban cuisine.
The delightful interior courtyard, covered with traditional glass and lead panelling which lets in plenty of daylight, or any of the seven dining-rooms are ideal for trying out our excellent cuisine which combines locally purchased products with decidedly Moorish influences. Vegetables, meat, pork products, sea food and fish make up our simple but imaginative dishes which are famous for the quality of the food and the interesting ways they are made.
In the “Almudaina”, everything tastes different. The richly varied menu of Cordoban and Andalusian dishes is accompanied by a wide choice of wines, including the most popular selections from each of the Denominations of Origin, as well as the best quality local fino wines.
Eldemiro Jiménez and his team of professionals are proud of the many prizes and special mentions they have received in gastronomic publications and the press in general, which has made the “Almudaina” one of the favourite places to dine out in Cordoba.
A long list of associations, of which the “Almudaina” is a member testify to the restaurant’s top quality, such as the “Club de Oro de la Mesa Andaluza” (Golden Club of Andalusian Dining), “Asociación de Restaurantes de Buena Mesa” (The Association of Restaurants of Excellent Dining), “Cofradía del Ciento” (Brotherhood of the Hundred), “Serenísimo Capítulo de Caballeros de Vino” (Most Noble Brotherhood of Gentlemen of Wine) or the International Gastronomic Association “Chaîne de Rotisseurs.
The charming interiors with Mudejar-style decorative ceilings and the courtyard walls, covered in ivy, are a perfect setting for family celebrations, company meals, visiting groups, meetings or congresses.
The “Almudaina” welcomes you and invites you to enjoy its calm, peaceful atmosphere in which to savour one of the richest parts of our heritage we have to offer: a cuisine which encapsulates the authentic spirit of Cordoba
